Knoxville Portraits Fashion Photography

Knoxville Portraits Fashion PhotographyCyber Monday Specials are listed below the fashion photo shoot story.

Each Fall in East Tennessee, a beautiful and wonderful phenomenon happens to the world around us: The leaves begin to turn from the ho-hum green to radiant colors of warmth and joy!

This is pure gold for photography backdrops, both figuratively and sometimes literally. While I’ve done my fair share of posing for and taking of portraits in the gorgeous Fall colors, I’ve never done a fashion shoot during Fall. Until last month, that is. I also wanted to try out Read more

Knoxville Fashion Week Photos - SOM by Kelley Jones Runway

Knoxville Fashion Week Photos - SOM by Kelley Jones RunwayI’ve posted quite a bit on the most recent Knoxville Fashion Week over the past two months (and I have a few more galleries I could write about from the Saturday events).

After thousands of pictures, and hundreds, if not thousands, of words, I don’t want to keep drawing out posting even more content from the event, so this is the final (planned) post about KFW Fall 2012—and I want to keep it short!

So this post is simply a “homepage” of sorts for you to find all the incredible photos from Knoxville Fashion Week, all the posts I made about KFW, and a quick guide to ordering any images and prints from any event.

Make sure you check out the fun highlight video posted above featuring photos from all the KFW Events!

Southern Grace Showroom Opening Event Photo

Southern Grace Showroom Opening Event PhotoOne of my favorite benefits from being at Knoxville Fashion Week was meeting two wonderful new friends, Leah Dailey and Lacey Fleming.

Leah and Lacey are the owners of a fabulous and Southern fashion boutique that began as trunk shows hosted by customers at their homes and has now made its way into a brand new (and fantastically decorated) retail showroom space!

The ladies of Southern Grace invited Knoxville Portraits to their main event for a photo booth to capture them and their guests celebrating the opening of the new space. You can see the images from the Southern Grace photo booth here.

We’ve posted all the images from the Southern Grace Showroom Opening online! More information about the online gallery is at the end of the post.

What you can expect in this post:

  1. Behind-the-scenes story about selecting a photo booth location
  2. How you can shop with Southern Grace
  3. Info about Knoxville Portraits Events and Social Media
  4. Ordering Info for photos from the Southern Grace Showroom Opening

The award for the hottest runway event during the Knoxville Fashion Week Fall 2012 events, in a landslide, goes to Jenna Colina’s Swimwear Showcase!

Jenna’s collection is extremely diverse, fun, and looks fantastic, as you can see in all the photos above.

I ran into Jenna less than an hour before her collection took the stage and she was quite the busy-bee. She handled answering questions, directing models, and making small adjustments to her bikinis (there’s not a lot to adjust either, so she had to be very precise!) with grace and ease.

The talented emerging designer Alicia Marie provided the jewelry you see the models sporting.

Her show started with quite a bang as the talented Amber Borzotra began by Read more

As a fashion-conscious but not fashion-fanatical male, I was impressed with many of the designs displayed at Knoxville Fashion Week. However, it seemed that almost all of the clothing and shows were geared toward the ladies . . . leaving the gentlemen without much of an opportunity to window shop for new styles.

Luckily, Coachman Clothiers spiced up the Friday night show by providing many great-looking pieces for guys (and a few for the ladies too)!

As you can see in the photos above, the fashions Coachman displayed for men has a lot of variety and quality, and there was an added bonus: Read more

Following up the incredible behind-the-scenes experience I was able to capture during the Emerging Designers Runway the previous night is quite a difficult task. If you’ve seen my post on it, you’ll know that I was able to tell so many different stories going on out of the public view.

I couldn’t completely abandon my passion for telling stories visually, but I didn’t want to retell the same story with different characters either.  Friday night at Knoxville Fashion Week is the first major runway event after two days of momentum-building, but smaller shows. I wanted to do something visually that did justice to the change in magnitude of the event but in was still special in its own right.

Enter stage right: Longtime friend and Belleza Fab 8 model Melanie Howe. Melanie is a beautiful and very talented individual, and her activities reflect her positive and eclectic interests. Not only is she a model, she is also a student at UT and is a local celebrity known as “The Djembabe” (deriving from her precious instrument, the djembe), appearing as a core member of the Knoxville-based country and Southern-rock group, “Southern Drawl Band“. Silly Amber

Whether I’m creating a single image, capturing many images and writing about them, or composing a film, I absolutely love to tell a story.

During Knoxville Fashion Week (Fall 2012), I was able to do just that by documenting the process of putting on a runway event! In fact, when I arrived at Knoxville Lighthouse, rockstar model Amber Borzotra pulled in right after me, so I followed much of her preparation process.

A few local teenage models watch as Amber’s hair is styled while they wait for the rehearsal to begin.

The event was the “Emerging Designers Runway,” which featured many up-and-coming area designers of clothing, jewelry, and other accessories. The featured designers included:

Knoxville Fashion Week - Marc Nelson Runway

Knoxville Fashion Week - Marc Nelson RunwayWhile most of the fashions exhibited during Knoxville Fashion Week this Fall were strictly for the women, the Marc Nelson Runway spiced it up with a healthy mix of fashionable men’s and women’s clothing, including a new line of ladies’ tops you can see in the slideshow above.

According to Marc Nelson (MN) founder/designer Marcus Hall, the line is intended to provide clothing with “effortless style” that “bridge[s] the gap between the avant-garde culture of Los Angeles and the traditional style of the South.”

The majority of MN clothing is men’s denim and t-shirts, but we got a special show with some more elaborate men’s items and the simple and fashionable new women’s tops. Much of the MN clothing line is available for purchase on their website.

I’m particularly drawn to this effortless style MN strives to provide. The Henley shirt is one of my favorite shirt styles, and despite not being very in-tune with the fashion world, I do love the “look and feel” Marc Nelson brings to the fashion table for men. Read more
