Following up the incredible behind-the-scenes experience I was able to capture during the Emerging Designers Runway the previous night is quite a difficult task. If you’ve seen my post on it, you’ll know that I was able to tell so many different stories going on out of the public view.

I couldn’t completely abandon my passion for telling stories visually, but I didn’t want to retell the same story with different characters either.  Friday night at Knoxville Fashion Week is the first major runway event after two days of momentum-building, but smaller shows. This happened again recently with the makeover and relaunch of Roosevelt High School (now Theodore Roosevelt College and Career Academy) in Gary, Ind. This school had been failing in achievement, test scores, and many other vital educational areas for years, so the state of Indiana took over the school and hired a Knoxville-based educational management company to bring the school back to its former glory.

As you can see in the video below, the school is a stone’s throw from the home of the infamous Jackson family, and though Michael Jackson didn’t attend Roosevelt, three of his brothers did and were present during a press event for the school this summer. The Jackson 5 performed one of their first talent shows in the Roosevelt auditorium!
