Late For the Show

The Story

While relaxing on a front porch in Greenbow, Alabama, Dave Hogue realizes he will be late for the start of D-NOW 2010–unless he runs to Knoxville right away. He makes it just in time, but takes a few unexpected detours along the way.

The Story Behind the Story

Calvary Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tenn., holds an annual event called “Disciple Now,” or “D-NOW” which serves as a local retreat for its college students. This event is the primary focus of the Spring semester for the C2 Ministry, and they needed a grand opening video to kick off the weekend.

After considering many different options, Dave Hogue, the C2 Worship Leader and lead actor in this film, decided that to accomplish the grand goal we had for the video, we had to look to Hollywood. We were also inspired by Conan O’Brien’s introduction to the 58th Emmy Awards.

During the screening of the film at the event, Dave was waiting in the lobby outside the main auditorium. He timed his entrance with the door opening at the end of the film, and the audience loved the combined introduction to the event.
